Will LSU catcher Michael Papierski be drafted and, if so, how high?

I would make a prediction but I'm not very good at that....

What's his willingness to leave?

Idk either. But seems to be a prevailing factor these days. Regardless of output, "signability" means more in the MLB draft where money saved early becomes almost as important as talent and projections.

Yeah, he'll get drafted around round 10. If the Tigers pick it up and he gets hot at the plate late, it would make a huge difference.

You are on a roll.
I think he'll get drafted top 10 rounds and he will go.
I am ready to follow the team without being friends with the parents of a player.

If he gets drafted top 10 rounds while hitting less than .200 every boy I have is gonna be a switch hittin catcher

I have never bought into the Pap hype, but it is real and the hype continues. I think he will get taken by the 10th because he looks the part.

Catchers aren't drafted for hitting ability. If they can hit at all, it's just a bonus

you can start with the hitting.
I would go conservative on throwing.
catching and calling the game. amen.
you know, this is not new. you can stay in the bigs if you can really field the position and hit 270. Bob Ueker

A below-average hitter, he finished with a career batting average of .200. He was generally considered to be a sound defensive player and committed very few errors in his Major League career as a catcher, completing his career with a fielding percentage of .981. However, in 1967, despite playing only 59 games, he led the league in passed balls and is still on the top 10 list for most passed balls in a season. At least a partial explanation is that he spent a good deal of the season catching knuckleballer Phil Niekro.[3] He often joked that the best way to catch a knuckleball was to wait until it stopped rolling and pick it up.[4

I just looked up Kade Scivique whose last season with LSU was 2015. He hit .355 his last year.
IMO, he was far better defensively than Papierski including a better arm. He threw out 63% of attempted steals. Pap is good at 56%.
Kade was drafted in the 4th round as a senior.

Pap has the defensive skills to make it to the league but he won't ever make it to the majors. His hitting capabilities hold his stock down.
Yes, at times he looks sloppy but overall he is one of the best defensive catchers in the country. When the game is on the line, I'd take Pap behind the plate blocking balls and throwing out runners.
I think his lack of work ethic will stop his playing career early. Most guys get burnt out and minor league ball is one way to do that to a kids career. At best, he'll make it to AA ball.

He does have some positives. He's good defensively, he's a switch hitter, & he's a big guy that has decent power.
That being said...he's one of the worst hitters I've seen at LSU in a while. Some team will like his potential & take a chance on him, though.

Fwiw;
Sounds like Paul took a chance on him because he had the measurables and put up great high school numbers... believe he faced some subpar pitching in high school for 3A or D1 level pitching is too much for him to figure out

In that same year, Pap was 64%. 2016 he was at 67%
National average for NCAA is 38%
Paps arm has improved tremendously over the years and unfortunately, I think it may be his last year here. He was drafted out of high school and I think an organization thin at catcher will offer him something extra after he is drafted in the mid rounds 15-20ish

People seem to have forgotten that our idiotic coach had Scivique on the bench to start the season. Were it not for a couple of clutch pinch hits early on, we may have missed out on his epic season.
