not this again. elite programs don't measure success on something that is voted on based on regular season success. i don't understand why people are trying to give mainieri a pass with this weak excuse

You are the only one that's living in the 90's. Everybody has caught up and you need to do the same. National seeds are a very good accomplishment as only 8 of the best teams get them. Only one team can win the NC. Did you know that?

Great info! Confirming all rational comments. Thanks!

Of course you know some on this board not let facts in the way of negative comments.

People said the same thing about miles before he was fired. Maineri is responsible, whether he is at fault or not is a different story. He is the head coach, thus responsible for the performance of this team. If we don't host a regional this year he will be fired. It's a house cleaning happening at LSU. I think Alleva knows that we can't accept mediocrity anymore and he is doing something about it.

2-5 in the last 2 weeks. Lost to a unranked in state rival and lost a series to a middle of the pack SEC team who got swept by Kentucky. The coach is the problem. He has a veteran team with one of the best pitcher rotations in the country. He made a piss poor hire for batting coach. You can spin this all you want Paul but the coach is responsible for the play on the field.

CPM has been underwhelming for the last few years.
What college baseball coach has won the most games over the last 5 years? Or, the last 9 years? Who is the only college baseball coach whose team has been a top 8 national seed every year for the last 5 consecutive years?

If you believe that only by winning the CWS prevents a coach from being "underwhelming" you're going to believe that 294 teams are underwhelming every year.

Wait a min, Skip Bertman was the best LSU Baseball coach we ever had! Maineri might be a good coach but he is not a great coach. The Bertman teams had clutch hitting and pitching and had a championship quality about them. He also
seem to make the right decisions when to pull pitchers and who to start. He was also a better recruiter. Look at all the losses against instate smaller schools! This is LSU - we are known for championship qualtity baseball teams. To tell the truth I am now losing interest in following LSU Baseball with the way the season is going!

It's amazing that these haters believe their own stupidity. If you want to complain about a few Omaha losses fine but to act like PM is a bad coach and should be fired is absolutely absurd and shows the ignorance of this board. The majority of the haters couldn't even tell you basic baseball knowledge and don't even follow the team closely. They just wake up in the morning and read that LSU baseball lost and come here to bitch that the coach should be fired. Unreal

You never followed them in the first place because Skip had a lot of losses to instate smaller schools. To even compare the two era's of college baseball is retarded as well.

Tulane eliminated Bertman's LSU in a super-regional in Skip's last season.

right, this message board is right, cant put the blame totally on manierie i agree that manierie is not the problem, it is manerie poor judgement to hire the personell who he has as hitting coach and he puts his players in bad position, leaves them in too long. so i agree not totally 100 percent on manerie, on a few other slackers as well

Dude, at least spell Mainieri's name correctly. Otherwise you just come across as a dumbass who pretends to know something about the LSU baseball program.

I am not pro-PM or anti-PM. I'm just watching what is happening but you are the assclown who said JJ should not be fired so I think you have no credibility on this matter. JJ was garbage

There are some miserable fans here. I don't know how they enjoy baseball. They get far more upset about a loss than the players do.

It is a game that I enjoy watching. I want LSU to win, but I don't let a loss put me in a position where I'm going to whine about firing a coach who sure as hell knows more about baseball than I do.

Mediocrity sucks

Synonyms of mediocre: average; middling; middle-of-the-road; pedestrian

This year has been difficult to watch without a doubt, but there is absolutely nothing mediocre about the previous 10. A CWS title, 4 CWS appearances, 5 SEC Tournament titles and a winning percentage of over 70% are a lot of things, but mediocre is certainly not one of them.

To quote one of my favorite movies, "How can you be so obtuse?"
