And you never answered my question before, did your speed actually drop?
Yes, when I first signed up, always between 13-14 download
Now I never test over 10
During the cell tower upgrade, I was between 2-4

Well clearly you don't have fiber
With cable the more people using your node at peak hours the slower it gets. Your isp needs to add more infrastructure.
You wanting a fast lane isn't going to change any of that.

Ah, so you are using some sort of wireless for your connection?

If my ISP would be allowed to offer it, then it would change that. Wouldn't it?

No you clearly don't understand how infrastructure works. Your node is overloaded with traffic. It doesn't matter what type of traffic it is, traffic is traffic. Your special YouTube or Netflix lane isn't going to work any better when 100s of home are running traffic through the same node.
The fast lane concept is about them throttling services to those sites to make them even slower unless you pay for it. Things like data caps have nothing to do with management of the network, congestion or one person using more data making someone else's internet worse.
Once again they need to upgrade the infrastructure to redirect traffic to increase service.

Your ISP is allowed to offer faster speeds now, nothing is stopping them. That isn't what net neutrality is about. What they aren't allowed to do is provide one speed for certain data but not others. Nothing stops them currently from offering a "fast lane" i.e. a faster connection, they all do this. Net neutrality prevents them from making their own content faster than their competitors, nickle and diming you over website access, or making it so sites have to pay them a kickback to have reasonable speeds delivered to you.
You don't understand the implications, it's not getting you faster internet. So stop arguing for it!

I clearly do understand. My ISP is only making money off its subscribers. But if they were allowed to sell ads, and offer fast lanes to subscribers, then they could re-invest in my infrastructure and then be able to also sell me fast lane service
And if they wont, someone else will
But the FCC regs, and NN were keeping them from maximizing profits. So I'm stuck, until the rules and laws are changed

no no no
Stop being so thick headed
They are only doing any of this bc they have lost money with people ditching cable tv.
ISPs have the money already to invest in infrastructure they just don't want to do until they are forced by their competitors once they see the potential loss in customers.

Not going to happen when most people have limited options.

If NN gets taken away I hope your ISP implements absurd data caps

That is almost delusionally optimistic.
Comcast's stock has basically been steadily rising for 5 years. Lack of profits is NOT an issue. As long as competition is dead (due to state and local laws/regulations) any reinvestment is a pipe dream.

That's not the way it works. You're advocating shooting yourself in the foot and you don't even realize you're doing it. Thankfully most people have a better grasp of what's going on and are against it, but that might be moot if the powers that be pass it through anyways.
You're arguing against your own best interest and that of the country. What you're proposing would potentially end the US being at the forefront of innovation and the driving force on the web. And no, it wouldn't result in faster speeds for you, just a lot more headache.

He actually said he wants fast lanes
Like what in the frick
So in a free market those willing to pay shouldnt get better access to services?
how "prog-ommunist" of you.

A "fast lane" isn't actually a good thing.

Data caps
And local government keeping out competition
How small government of you
You want to keep the closed market. The rest of us want it opened up. If you understand how fast lanes worked you wouldn't be posting that bullshite.

They can. I can call Comcast right now and double my connection speed if I want to. That's not what net neutrality is. And I don't have to call them up to pay to access TigerDroppings because it's not on my subscription package, which is what they're salivating over.

Also describing the current state of ISPs as a free market is ridiculous (and I'm not talking NN here)

youre not the only one paying.
And you fricking morons can thank the same government agency, the FCC, who created these monopolies for their current game where they can charge both sides of the coin!
**But reddit told me this would mean certain websites dont have special access!
Stupid prog....how do you think the cable companies got special rights!
Posted on 4/1/17 at 11:19 pm to CptBengal
The ISPs got special rights because local politicians go down faster than a $2 hooker and are usually cheaper too.

Nope
I am victimized by the current rules. Getting rid of them allows for a world of options. Otherwise, I am to just sit here and get throttled down more and more
I heard this same shite when people didn't want to break up Ma Bell. When people didn't want Tesla to sell in their state. When insurance companies didn't want to open outside state lines. When no one wanted to allow fracking. When Standard Oil don't want to be broken up. When PBS didn't want to lose funding
Until you change the rules, you have no idea what a hungry, eager entrepreneur can do

and the FCC created a regulatory climate that allowed for local monopolies as long as they "regionalized" their distributions
it's fricking laughable.
I agree with Trump putting the internet back under the FTC.
