Does an illegal alien that sneaks over the border have to sneak back out?

Or can he just show up at the border and apologize and GTFO through the check point?
I've never thought about that before.

Generally speaking you can leave the country without permission.
No one is checking ID on the way out.

The other side just holds the door open for them?

no, no. we're happy to drive him across the border.

But is the other side happy to have us deliver them?

He probably takes the same tunnel which is why building a wall is pointless.

Over half of the illegals came here legally and less than 60% are from Mexico.

Canada and Mexico do
Have you ever driven to Canada or Mexico? There aren't American border guards checking IDs on the way to the other side. For all Canada knows, they don't really care about the immigration status of the person leaving the US.
I think that changes if they are wanted or have been convicted of something (DWI is a big no go there).

Cool. Not what this thread is about though.

Mr. Gorbachev, there is no reason to tear down this wall. Walls are pointless.
Doesn't have the same kind of ring to it, does it?

Haven't been to Mexico since I was a kid so I don't exactly remember but I thought Canada checked IDs on the way in.
I know you have to keep two forms of ID on you while you are visiting Canada.

They do. You need a passport. But I doubt they will care or will even care to check if you overstayed your visa in the US.
Keep in mind being an illegal alien doesn't mean you don't have a valid passport from your home country.

So pretty much like us if you don't break the law or file for government assistance?

It is about sneaking. I guess they could sneak back legally.

That's been my experience so far from living in NY.
In fact recently they have started accepting illegals that were to be deported from the US.
There was a story not long ago where a border agent was in a chase with an illegal alien and he managed to get across the border before CBP got him. The Canadians didn't hand him back over and he filed for asylum.

Sounds like a great solution. Just contract with Greyhound and get them to Canada.

What's not about sneaking? Because it's about sneaking.

I know Canada does, and I would suspect Mexico does too. I'm pretty sure Mexico's laws are stricter than ours...which is why it was so ironic that the Mexican President (Fox?) lectured us on how evil our policies were, with Obama standing behind him nodding and smiling.
