Came home and there's a large box of pre selected ingredients for ready to cook meals. Wife says she wanted to try it out. Anyone has any experience with Blue Apron meals or similar services?

Mostly good stuff, a little pricey , but allows you to cook things that you normally would not. We did it a lot last year and just got tired of it, now we do it just every now and then

I wouldn't pay for it but it is good
My mother gave it to me as a gift. Seems like something upper middle class people would use that work a lot and want to be semi healthy

We did Plated for a while but the protein portions got way too small for us.

Most folks I know that do it have household incomes less than 100k per year. A far cry from being upper middle class.

I've used it. I don't know if things have changed since but at the time they would let you select the type of foods you prefer (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) but not the specific recipes you wanted to try. You would end up getting recipes that you weren't so excited about. That was my biggest complaint and why I stopped using them.

My daughter is a vegan and uses Purple Carrot for meals. Actually pretty good for vegan food.

Hello Fresh is the best imo.

I've done blue apron and hello fresh. I prefer hello fresh over the two, but Ive cancelled both memberships. Too expensive, recipes end up repeating themselves, etc. I did, however, enjoy cooking with and eating foods I normally wouldn't try.

I looked into it but it's really overpriced for what you're getting. Theres no way you're paying anywhere near $10 a serving to make good healthy meals normally. I don't think there's anything I cook consistently that would cost $5 a serving. Blue apron doesnt even save you from going to the store, since it only provides full dinner meals. No snacks or meals for breakfast or lunch

I use Green Chef, I like it as the portions are good, no waste of food, no running to the store or figuring out what to cook for dinner.

Wife and I get a shipment every other week and enjoy it. Food is different that what we normally eat so it's a change up for us.

I like Home Chef as it takes awhile for the recipes to repeat and you can order as little as 2 meals for 2 or 4 of 1 thing.

Just had their chicken meatball dish. Not bad at all, but still takes awhile for the prep. Not as quick of a meal to cook as you would think.
