I'd like to watch, but can't find it. It was on CSpan2 yesterday...not today. Fox is glued to the story at Parliament.

This is the strangest thing I've watched. The senators just drone on for 15 minutes then ask 1 question

I've been saving my criticism of Gorsuch until we found more information.

Gorsuch handled every question very well thus far and was more than able to clearly articulate the logic behind his decisions on the bench. I'm honestly blown away by his answers, his demeanor, and his appreciation for the rule of law as written. If the votes in favor of his confirmation doesn't reach at least 65 votes, I'll think much less of Democrats for it.

I agree that he should not be answering questions in reference to current, pending or specific hypothetical cases. But he's avoiding more than just those questions.

Just so I'm clear though, I would vote for him. But I do think it's unfortunate how evasive nominees are (not just him) and how political it has become.

We have to remember that the people questioning him are politically and ideologically driven. It's Gorsuch's job to interpret and apply the rule of law, not comment on what the laws "should be".

I think a lot of senators in this hearing know they are on television and are grandstanding for political reasons.

I like Flake. Sasse just dressed down Franken without making Franken look more foolish.

Sasse just got Gorsuch to say bigly.

Lots of laughter in the room but it was probably not coming from the Dems.

ETA: Damnit. I was slow.

And we are on a 10 minute break.

Sasse just killed it with calling out the Dems for their non-sense. He is smooth.

Just watched Grassly and Feinstein yuck it up a bit during the break.

These fools are nothing more than actors playing a part in a movie that affects us all.

is this true?

Is it just me or does Gorsuch remind anyone else of Jimmy Stewart.

Of course it's true.

Franken asked for 30 seconds at the beginning of the next round out of turn. He got it.

He apologized for being wrong and for correcting Gorsuch inaccurately.

Franken did well to man up.

Coons just tried a gotcha and got bitch slapped.

Gorsuch is good.

I missed this. Any links? I tried googling it but all I can find are mouth droolers spanking it to their God Frankenkahn and his beat down of Gorsuch.

I hate when I have to turn this off. This guy is fantastic. I could listen to him speak all day. I am considering committing a crime just so I could have him be my judge

I would think a link will be up later.

The better one to find later is the bitch slap of Coons.

Coons tried to attribute two quotes from the Supreme Court that Gorsuch used in a case. Gorsuh was having none of that.

It was sweet.

Liberals & Lawsuits

ARticle in reference from 2005 for anyone that is wondering.

Good quote given the situation currently.
quote:

At the same time, the politicization of the judiciary undermines the only real asset it has — its independence. Judges come to be seen as politicians and their confirmations become just another avenue of political warfare. Respect for the role of judges and the legitimacy of the judiciary branch as a whole diminishes. The judiciary’s diminishing claim to neutrality and independence is exemplified by a recent, historic shift in the Senate’s confirmation process. Where trial-court and appeals-court nominees were once routinely confirmed on voice vote, they are now routinely subjected to ideological litmus tests, filibusters, and vicious interest-group attacks. It is a warning sign that our judiciary is losing its legitimacy when trial and circuit-court judges are viewed and treated as little more than politicians with robes.

Hirono admitting that she has a strong desire to weight the SCOTUS to the left.

I don't think she realizes what she's actually doing.
