Don't read too much into silence on Butler front. Focused on Saints. Parameters of deal mostly in place. Some quibbling over guaranteed $$$

quote:

As for compensation for Butler, can't be discussed until he signs tender but both sides know what it will take to get deal done...

Sense i get is there's a bit of a game of high stakes chicken on compensation front, but Saints enamored with player

Sounds like a deal will get done soon. I just wonder what kind of $$$ we are talking.

Well give back 32 and sign him to 12 mil a year and it will be great. If we only give back 42 it will be even better.

Might as well give Pats the first rounder back, I'm not confident the Saints could draft a CB in the first round any better than Butler with the misses they've had recently from Peat to Anthony and trading up for Ingram.

The Patriots have zero incentive to move Butler unless it's for serious draft capital.

If there was a poker tournament for all of the NFL teams, I get the feeling we would be terrible.

Ian Rappaport

quote:

#Patriots have had no talks with #Saints or Butler. They won't until he signs his tender. NE may just say, sign an offer sheet & let's see.

quote:

Choice for #Patriots: Butler signs an RFA offer sheet & they match (or don't & get a 1). ... Or there is no offer sheet & he plays for $3.9M

Well this doesn't sound good for us
