Have to echo other posts of married gamers.
Been married 11 years , have two kids. You have to put them first...so it's homework/dinnner/ and some quality time whether that be games with my kid (they like minecraft and my son loves Star Wars battlefront/ daughter likes lego and animal jam..then it's get them to bed..once they are tucked in my wife and I log in to WoW, she has a end game character and so do I, we play for a few hrs pretty much every night ...before hat she streamed on twitch playing g hearthstone. I would play destiny..
It wasn't always like that , but communication is key, if your in a young relationship and she doesn't get how important it is, talk to her in a constructed healthy way..make a schedule come to an agreement .

My wife knew what she was getting into. Most the time I just get my gaming in when she goes to bed which is usually way before I do.

I see how this could be a problem, but perhaps haven't consider it on a deeper level. My wife said something a while back but didn't seem too stressed on it, so I let it go.
I can't stand to watch tv for more than an hour or 2 unless its sports, but even then I get up and move around.
Watching tv is like being brainwashed - you just stare at it; there's no interaction. I hate it.

Not that often, but yeah, it's part of a permanent schedule.

My girlfriend knew I enjoyed video games but made a slightly condescending remark that when we moved in together this habit would have to change. I told her it wouldn't. I haven't hardly touched video games for the past year because of work but started up again this month. Most of my gaming is done while she is studying. I even got headphones so she wouldn't hear the noise but then she gets frustrated if I can't hear her trying to talk to me. Plus, she never played video games and has never cared too, even when I've offered to teach her. I wish I had a SO who enjoyed playing games with me like some of the above posters.

My wife is a flight attendant so she's usually gone during the week and home most weekends. I get my gaming in during the week and save the weekends for her. If she's in during the week she just wants an hour or so of face-time (includes dinner) before I hop online.
It's not hard to come to a compromise unless one or both of you are being selfish.

My wife isn't a huge fan. I have a room with my computer in at.. Half mancave (also has my guitars in it) half guest room.. I play 2 times a week or so, and when she goes to happy hour with friends and stuff I play also. Usually wind up with 8-12 hours a week.. Not bad. Sometimes much more if she has work/friend plans that don't involve me. And when I play she then gets to catch up on her trash TV that I despise. Real Housewives, say yes to the dress, etc.. I generally don't desire to play much more than that anyway. Usually on Tuesday (nothing to watch) and Saturday/sunday
Basically, as long as I hold up my end of chores and make sure I don't neglect our relationship, she understands that it's a hobby, and brings me joy and relaxation, and recharges my batteries.
I actually get grumpy if it's been a while since I've gamed.. It's my 'me' time thing.
Just be an adult and realize you have to consider your SOs feelings in the matter as well. For me it's not so bad.. Less gaming time means I appreciate the games I play more and I don't waste time on games that I don't thoroughly enjoy. It also means one $60 game lasts me a really, really long time and the hobby is way cheap

Same, my wife will be gone a week at a time. Once I put the little one down its prime time gamming time.

Gus,
Are you me? LOL
My GF and her sister came over unannounced when I was in a competitive Overwatch game. I was pretty annoyed. It doesn't help that I wear a headset and they think I look like the biggest douche.
It also doesn't help when I'm yelling at teenagers that I hope their parents die of cancer.
