Minnesota Sen. Al Franken’s two children attend Dalton School, described by the liberal-leaning Daily Beast as “one of New York’s most exclusive and rigorous private schools and boasts an impressive roster of celebrity alumni, including Anderson Cooper and Claire Danes.” Dalton’s application asks parents to list any prestigious titles they hold, including, “Princess, Senate and Ambassador,” according to The Daily Beast.
Franken describes Dalton as “a very high-powered, expensive New York City private high school.”
How expensive? Dalton’s tuition is currently $44,640 a year.

Furthermore, Franken himself benefited from school choice. According to an interview in Harvard Magazine, Franken attended one of the most prestigious charter schools in Minnesota.
Franken turned out to be a whiz in science and math, and when his brother went off to MIT, the family began to look for a better secondary school for Al. As it happened, Blake was looking for kids just like him.
“Blake was a school chartered for Protestants,” Franken said. “In the 1950s, it started to lose the ability to get enough kids into top colleges. They needed kids who would score well. And they said …‘JEWS!’ ”

What's your point, we shouldn't have private schools?

We shouldn't have hypocrites running them down for other people while they use them for their own children, just because they are bought and paid for by the money laundering machine that is teachers' unions.
Do try harder to keep up.

Why doesn't Franken's kids go to school in Minnesota? Is this a boarding school setup like Phillips Exeter?

Link to where he's running them down?
Being a proponent of public schools does not mean being against private schools.

Public schools are for the proletariat.

Key phrase.
He's no different than that POS Matt Damon. Damon has said that white people who send their kids to private schools are racist.
Guess where the hypocritical little bitch sends his kids?

Good for him. Is he against private schools or something? Or just a supporter of public schools?

I'm not judging someone for trying to get the best education for their children. That is an excellent school.
I do have a few questions....
Dalton is in NYC. Franken works in DC and supposedly resides in Minnesota. So are his kids in a dorm at Dalton? I have mixed opinions on boarding schools. That's a decision he and his wife made and I'm not criticizing them for it. I just wonder how they do it if their kids are not in a dorm.
Clearly Franken sees the benefit of school choice. He choose a school in an entirely different state than where he lives for his kids. Why does he not want to enable school choice for lower income students? Dalton or Deerfield may still be out of reach for them, but they could potentially have the option of switching to a better school than where they are stuck now.
Particularly troubled kids may actually benefit from boarding schools where they can escape a bad home life and focus on their studies.
It seems like nearly everyone (on either side of the isle) that fights school choice for inner city kids that are actually stuck in a hopeless situations also send/sent their kids to private academies.

Not really, you were pretending that your point was self-evident, I was pointing out that you didn't even make a point.

Yep. Vouchers are just big government getting bigger, I can't understand why people on here are for that.

Democrats need to answer if vouchers fall into the government's responsibility if it is their duty to provide an education for students in the era of failed public schools.
Republicans (and rich Democrats like Franken) need to provide an answer as to why school choice and the option for private boarding schools is good for their kids, but not for inner city children stuck in hopeless situations and bad public schools.
In reality we are spending the money on those inner city kids one way or another. I think we should take measures to ensure that those kids are getting the tools they need to become productive members of society. That may mean the option o attending a better school a few miles away or a boarding school 40 miles away for particularly troubled kids.

My question is: How did that pathetic piece of shite ever get a woman to marry him in order to have any children? I would have figured he was single and he adopted the kids.

In all fairness, I'm sure good old Al is also all in favor of more prisons too. As long as those are nowhere near his properties, his family, his favorite places to go....
In other peoples backyards? Sure, maybe even 2 prisons in fact, next to the toxic waste treatment plant and the nuclear reactor.

Republicans are for school choice. It's the democrats and their allies, the teachers unions, that oppose school choice.
