It always amazes me to see this and I try to share it with everyone b/c it's so unknown to many BR natives.

Baton Rouge was supposed to have a legit bypass made out of Airline Highway when I-10 came through town. This was planned in 1955!.
This should make you a little more frustrated reading about how it was cancelled.

The skeleton of the project is still there. That's why there's interchanges on Airline at Florida, Greenwell Springs, and Plank.
