That's complete bullshite. You start a CR investigation if it's warranted, not "just because".
Just look at Ferguson. There was no evidence that Brown was shot because he was a minority and the DOJ knew it. They started an investigation to "keep it real". When they knew they had egg on their face, they said, "no civil rights were violated but the FPD is still racist".
No that's complete bullsh!t. It has to be at least investigated unless there no way way, no how it could have been racially motivated. Especially with the tensions that already existed between the public and the police in Ferguson. You're dreaming.
One of the reasons that the Ferguson thing got so out of hand was that the DOJ took too long to squelch the rumor that Brown had his hands up when he was shot.

He should have kept his mouth shut. What was his purpose in making the announcement???
No, the level headed people haven't had a voice for far too long. It is the reason we've had so many riots and marches is because the childish people were given the main stage for so long. It is time to tell them to go sit down while the adults fix all this stuff.
Keep his mouth shut

The tensions are there because people view the DOJ investigations as signs of wrongdoing.

I'm not sure if that's true or not but, assuming it is, it seems as yet another reason why the DOJ shouldn't be involved unless there's sufficient evidence.

You Dems might be shocked at this but the answer to problems isn't always to sue everyone at the drop of a hat.
The irony here is your profile picture is Donald.

What do you think would have happened in Baton Rouge if it was announced right away that the local police were going to be in charge of investigating their own police officers?
When the feds come in it takes some of the focus off the local police.

Yeah but not having the option to is far worse.
I find it so interesting how Republican voters bitch about govt but find ways to make it more powerful from a law enforcement and military perspective. It isn't in your best interest to have people with authority and weapons having less accountability.

Most blacks came to the US post civil war.
I think this has more to do with the population boom the world has seen during this same time frame.

No crap huh. Did the Trumpkins even look into their president before voting for him

An exclusive USA TODAY analysis of legal filings across the United States finds that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and his businesses have been involved in at least 3,500 legal actions in federal and state courts during the past three decades. They range from skirmishes with casino patrons to million-dollar real estate suits to personal defamation lawsuits.

I believe the state police immediately took charge of the investigation.

I don't mind the feds coming in to see if there is any evidence to warrant a CR investigation but doing it as a de facto response is absurd.

You're conflating the conservative stance for small government by limiting intrusion into private life via laws and regulations over most every aspect of personal behavior, including speech, and bathrooms, eating and drinking, what you can do on your own land, etc, with allowing law enforcement to do their jobs without being sued over false accusations or "discrimination" in treatment etc.
Two separate things.
