My chickens aren't laying like they used to so I'm considering replacing them.

How old are they?

I have 8. 3 RIR, 2 white Leghorn, 2 black hens, and a buff orphington. I got rid of my rooster. Didn't need him.

Mine quit laying about a week ago but I'm stacked with eggs so I don't mind.

If you want them to lay, sprinkle some cayenne pepper on their feed. It will get them going. About 2 tablespoons of it for my 9 had them laying like crazy for a month. It worms them and all. Good stuff. For 3 chickens give em a teaspoon on top of their feed.

I let mine out every day for a little while. They ate all the grass in their 15x20 pen. I built a small chicken tractor but my wife wanted more hens so it's just sitting up. Easiest animals to raise.

We built a coop with hardware wire all around, even on the floor. We let them out during the day. Not anymore. Yesterday the Barred Rock was attacked. Not sure if she will survive.

Chickens aren't laying give them a little cayenne pepper. I don't know why I got down voted. It works or your money back guaranteed.

Mine are 3-4 years old. It's only a matter of time before they are dinner. They do still lay but not consistently. One day I was on the phone outside near the pen talking to a friend in Alabama who also had chickens and I mentioned I was going to kill them soon and in about two days they started laying again a lot. Lol...... Like they heard and understood what was going to happen.
