This is simple stuff:

1) Fire Gentry and hire a coach that fits the roster that Demps has started to build. As we've said many times, he built an offensive roster for a defensive coach in Monty, and now he's built a defensive roster for an offensive coach in Gentry. It doesn't fit and it doesn't make sense. They have to hire a guy that can run half court sets and will use the roster that is built, and will get this team organized and cut down on mistakes.

2) Convert useless money into useful money. This is the big challenge. Asik, Ajinca, QPon are 20 million dollars of complete deadweight. If we convert that dead money into 1-2 players that can actually contribute (preferably from beyond the arc), then that would obviously change the outlook on the team. Those guys just being a vortex of suck can't continue.

So in short: get better coach, get better players. I'm a fricking genius.

Is Jeff van gundy a good coach for this squad we have? I'm actually curious.

On the latest BSS podcast MM brought up a good point that Jake Madison had made about how firing Gentry so soon might make Cousins think it's Sacramento all over again. He'll get over it if you hire the right coach, but Cal is probably at the top of the list as the right coach and will the team fire Demps/Gentry and pay Cal?

Also, what is the right coach? Someone threw out Lionel Hollins to bring in Grit and Grind, but Kevin McHale said he didn't think Twin Towers would work in today's NBA. The current/"new" defense rules that allow zone are a large part of what's killed post play and the traditional center's value. So maybe McHale is right. That doesn't mean AD and Boogie can't work, both definitely fit in the modern NBA, but maybe slowing it down for alternating post ups isn't the direction to go.

It's going to impossible to offload all 3. You can get rid of 1 if you attach it to a trade with our 2018 pick for a shooter. I don't know how you're going to offload the other 2 though. I just don't see it.

Regardless you'll free up enough cap space with a move like that to get another shooter in addition to the one you're trading for, preferably one that can play defense.

That's pretty much the best we can expect for this offseason.

The only and I mean ONLY reason I liked any part of the Gentry hire was the hope of him being able to recruit former Warriors in free agency. Anyone who thought this guy was anything special and not some bum along for the ride in GS needs to wake up.
