When someone has a family, they make decisions with their family in mind. They support causes and institutions with their family in mind as well. Erode the family unit, and people begin living for themselves and less likely to mind what happens to their wealth, estate, etc. The government is the beneficiary, naturally. I'm sure you would agree, the family structure and presence of both parents is best for nurturing successive generations.

eta. I realize I'm not explicitly answering how it's bad for the people... I'm operating on the universal truth that larger government ends up being bad for the people. Source: human history.

I think it doesn't matter if its a dad/dad mom/dad mom/mom single parent etc. So long as both parties are able to care for the spawn they produce. Most single parents didn't make that choice either.

Can you provide me any statistical data or research which proves this or is this just your assumption?
