Who are we talking about? No clue which person (by name) anyone is referring to.
I guess you had to be there. I have no idea either.
Did Joe the Plumber ever buy that plumbing business?

The Libertarian Party is no different than any other party in the fact that there are those who are moderates and those who are extremists. The average Libertarian is a small government conservative fiscally and just wants for the government to stay the frick out of the private lives of it's citizens socially. You know, someone who doesn't fit into either major party....

Libertarian means "small government Conservative".
Oy vey. It pains me that people think they can just casually redefine Libertarianism or Conservatism, because they are too ill-informed to define them correctly. No matter what you think Conservative and Libertarian are NOT the same thing. But go ahead and knock yourself out.
And for the record, the term you are looking for to describe yourself is likely "small l libertarian". If you use the term "Conservative" you are highly unlikely to be either an Objectivist or an anarcho-capitalist for instance. WFB and Murray Rothbard are not proponents of the same philosophy, similarities withstanding.
quote:
Anyone who welcomes government intrusion into the private lives of it's citizens... they're no conservative.
And just so you know, Movement Conservatism champions Constitutional government. Just very limited government. A "social" Conservative is likely to have an expanded view of government and the modern-day charlatan we see today (McCain) who calls himself a Conservative is just an establishment Republican.
I will withdraw the progressive comment. Your anti-Trump bed-wetting hysterical meltdowns are so similar, I'm sure you can understand the mistake.

McCain never once in 9 years went after Obama as hard as he's going after TRUMP including hen he was running against him. I like people who didn't get captured.

The Deep State is defiant. And this is just the beginning.

I consider a true Libertarian is a laissez fare with the economy and society
But that is not ever going to happen so they have to meld their philosophy

Look, I'm not knocking Libertarianism, but Libertarians aren't really interested in governing. They are interested in political philosophy and being the smartest guy in the room. That's the curse of Libertarianism. Governing demands pragmatism. Libertarianism views pragmatism as the great sin. And besides, 90% of the people who call themselves Libertarian are nothing of the sort. Most are just small government Conservatives who just like certain aspects of Libertarianism and don't want to be associated with the feckless and unprincipled Republicans they see on their tv every day.

I think you are misconstruing terms. Small l libertarianism typically refers to the philosophy, big L Libertarianism refers to the party

WTF do libertarians care about big media?

Nope. You are missing the point. I'm referring to what is essentially a school of Conservatism, people who identify overwhelmingly as Republicans, who call themselves "small l Libertarians". But they aren't "really" Libertarians, because Libertarianism is essentially a debating club of super-smart guys who are nowhere near the levers of governance. As talked about by WFB, Russell Kirk, Limbaugh et al. Coined thusly by Milton Friedman:
“I am a libertarian with a small 'l' and a Republican with a capital 'R'. And I am a Republican with a capital 'R' on grounds of expediency, not on principle.”
That describes most of the Conservatives on this board, no? At least how they/we would like to think of themselves.

What is the difference between libertarian and Libertarian
quote:
A libertarian is one who advocates for the maximization of individual liberty, and/or advocates for the minimization (if not total abolition) of government, and/or follows the non-aggression principle.
A Libertarian is a member of the Libertarian Party, a political party based on libertarian principles.
Members of the Libertarian party are a subset of the libertarian community, who believe that the goals of limited (or abolished) government can be achieved through the political process. Here it is in ven diagram form:

Uhhh, yeah. He pretty much did that on his own when he said on live TV he had a "6ft cardboard cut out of trump " that he "salutes and prays to everyday". That's just not healthy.
Posted on 2/18/17 at 10:34 pm to joshnorris14
Yes I know that. The whole " All Libertarians are libertarians but not all libertarian are Libertarian"101 stuff. But did you not understand the Friedman quote? And the colloquial manner in which the term "small l libertarian" is used by Conservatives like Friedman and Limbaugh, among others?
I understand your point, do you understand mine? Or shall we dance on the head of this pin a bit longer?

We can continue to laugh at the Levinesque pseudoconservative who will claim libertarianism and advocate power for John Bolton simultaneously

For the record, I never claimed to be a libertarian. I'm an 18th Century Classical liberal/20th Century Movement Conservative/Anti-Marxist/WFB/Russell Kirk reading,anti-Neo-Conservative/semi-begrudging Paleo Conservative/Loving every second of America First Trump blowing PC up/depending on the day/enjoying the contradictions kind of guy.
