Best free agent signings of 2016

Mack and Sanu were key for the dirty birds improvement. Fairley #12
Fairley played out his second “prove-it” deal in as many seasons, doing so to the tune of a career-high 6.5 sacks and 43 total tackles. The big defensive tackle is certain to get a lucrative long-term deal now after staying healthy and productive for all 16 games.
Waiting to see where Laurinaitis places on the Worst Signings List. Everywhere ya read peeps said he was washed up for the Rams. Glanced at the Rotoworld blurb on his signing-
Although Laurinaitis put up gaudy "tackle" stats in St. Louis, he's long been one of the most overrated players in the league. He finished 59th among 60 qualified inside linebackers in Pro Football Focus' 2015 grades, and dead last against the run.
Hoping for improvement for Fleener this year but he he did look exactly like the "soft" reputation he had in Indy.
The list HERE

Regardless it was an extremely modest stop gap deal for a vet. Hardly anything worth whining over

A little disappointed to see Cadet isn't on this list. He really got hot down the stretch

You serious? He had like 444 all-purpose yards through 15 games. He's a extremely poor man's version of Sproles and only on the team because we have no other pass catching back.

Ingram has had 96 receptions over the past two years. Still think we need a scatback with a little more juice than Cadet.

Woodhead makes a lot of sense.
...so does RB in the middle rounds of the draft.
Ingram and Bouye and Zeitler/Lang/Leary. Re-sign Fairley, Snead, and Sterling Moore.
Woodhead or RB in draft. Then we would need a LB. Foster, please. I could go for a TE too. Middle rounds of draft.
Personally, I like the idea of bringing back Ben Watson when he gets released.

Don't think we have the war chest necessary for this unless we backload the hell out of the deals. I'm sure they could do that but it would be tough.

Went over this in another thread. We easily have enough to sign 3 of those guys and more (yes with backloading but not insane backloading).
After resigning Fairley and whatever other FAs we have and accounting for draft picks, and if we cut Byrd, we'll still have about $30 mil in space (plus another $4.6 mil after June 1st from Byrd).
A $5 mil hit on first year deals gets you 6 players (7 after June 1st). We have 63 or 65 guys signed and minimum players don't add to the cap.
Plenty of room to go all in if we wanted to. Not saying we should or shouldn't but we can.

I don't think we get both Ingram and Bouye. Both want a lot of money. Stephan Gilmore would probably be a much cheaper option at CB. Even though he wasn't great last year he was pretty good the years prior. Sean did say we really need a pass rusher so I think they'll really push to get Ingram. I do agree on the others even looking at Woodhead.

Ingram is going to cost 15mil+. The Giants ruined the market further when they gave Vernon a 5/85 seal which was borderline ridiculous even with the cap going up

The beginning of free agency last year was crazy

Damn. We're in better shape than I thought. It would be nice if we could use free agency to get a top level OG, DE, MLB, & CB...then draft BPA and not be tied down to any specific positions. I could definitely see us drafting a QB in that scenario.
