Dude, Les Miles won a natty; Larry Coker won a natty; Mack Brown won a natty...
All Bear had to do was go give mama the aw shucks routine and he would have any player he wanted...
I feel like I'm trying to convince a disciple that Jesus was a good preacher, ha.

quote:No zone defense. Way more flow of people running around like idiots with nobody even halfway trying to stop the damn ball on fast breaks. Don't see him getting double teamed. Don't see any scheme whatsoever.
No 3 point line.
The Professor would have kicked arse in the 70s.

I have a feeling he would absolutely LOATHE the shitshow that is modern recruiting and social media. You may be on to something...

It might still be crazy...but I'm pretty sure recruiting back then was NUTS.

Could have been. Perhaps more dirty shite without cell phones recording everything.

He would have been /r/NBA most streamable player. Plus he has a killer shot. He is perfect for today's scoring point guard game

Considering that he was a man amongst boys in his era, you're essentially saying that no one who played in the NBA at that time could hack it today. Got it.
Or maybe you're just butthurt about that time Pistol flipped-off the entire bama one night in T-town.

I have no doubts that he could run a fast break back in the day and most likely today as well. Those plays are nifty.

I see. Then thanks for admitting that you're just talking out of your arse.

The way to beat the zone is to hit outside shots.
Not like Pete was good at that or anything

People always use the reverse argument of this saying shite like "Lebron couldn't hang in the 80s-90s" which is laughable.

That second one blows my mind every time I see it
So. fricking. Smooth.
You see a few do moves similar, such as Rondo, but it's not as graceful looking. I think Pistol is my favorite highlight reel to watch.

Pistol Pete averaged 24 ppg for his career and 31 in the year he won the scoring title.
I'm not entirely sure he'd be an NBA basketball player if he was born 25 years ago instead of back in the day.

In fairness, Bear would probably get fired after his first week of 3 a days with no water breaks today.

My dad was behind him in school by a year and went to watch Pete's freshman games at LSU due to the buzz that was already being filtered down to local high schools.
My dad brought me to a Jazz game when I wasn't yet 1 year old so that I could see him play 'in person'.
I also tried out for that small budget movie when Pete hosted all of the kids at the PMAC and watched him play for The Shooting Stars at the Cajundome (with Meadowlark Lemon and Curly).
Yet I never truly saw him play. The closest would be some of the youtube clips that exist today.
