Interesting article. Funny that the author tries to equate the KKK with the "alt right" movement, even if just in passing. They just can't help themselves.

The modern day Klan bears no resemblance to your grandpa's organization.

It's obvious enough. Just look at which groups they target as "hate groups" (the anti-lgbt and anti-muslim designations will provide glaring examples), and which ones they conveniently ignore (BLM is a glaring example). I'm not going to type out clear reality for you. Use your brain.

Saying that the KKK is insignificant because there are only 5000 of them is like saying christians are insignificant because there are only a few snake handling christians in the world....the Klan is a pretty broad terms which includes some 190 white supremacist groups with some variation of KKK in their name...couple this with the neo-nazis, aryan brotherhood, skinheads, white nationalists, black separatists, and christian identity groups as well as militias of whites only all over the US and the number of people who belong to some sort of white hate group is significant....and they are all generally referred to as "The Klan" because they are all white trash who weren't raised right....decent folks in the south know what being raised right means....if you don't chances are you weren't....

Stop kidding yourself! Trump got more than 7 votes.

Never been a bigger group of snowflakes in the world than Trump supporters...the frickers were bad as a group when a Black Man ascended to the throne...they went out and bought every gun they could afford on their mill hand salary....but I'm damned if they ain't worse in victory than in defeat....the frickers are actually considering legislation in Tennessee to prevent someone from bring sued if they attack protestors with their car!!!! We really do need to handle the poor babies with kid gloves lest they have an episode and the whining and sniveling never stops...

Setting aside most of this post, which is complete bullshite. Yes there has been a transition from the KKK to other white supremacist groups. The Aryan Brotherhood, certain bikers gangs, and other paramilitaries have taken the place of the KKK.
So if anyone starts shrieking about seeing a Klan really you know it is essentially 100% bullshite.

The interesting part is when the KKK was at the height of its power it was a democrat based org.

There's like 7 people in the KKK now and I'm pretty sure it's just a group of fat guys who watch football together a bitch about the prevalence of black QBs.
It's kinda like the Vikings TV show commercial: several white dudes dressed up in funny hats going through the refrigerator at night. White guy cosplay essentially.

While I can see the reasoning behind your argument. I think you'll be on thin ice defending it.
Looking at the genesis and core values of groups such as the KKK, Aryan Brotherhood, Anti LGBT groups, Anti Muslim groups, etc. Each organization is ANTI this group or AGAINST that practice. NOW compared to BLM, which in it's infancy, was only a method to demand fair and equal treatment of minorities by law enforcement. I will grant you BLM has been hijacked to a large extent by less scrupulous individuals.
But surely you can see the difference between the entities, and why SPLC could not and would not target BLM.
To imply that SPLC is a hate group, based solely on your argument, is pure folly.

Other than a few years in the late 80s and early 90s I've lived in Northern Alabama my entire life. I'm 46 years old. I've seen the KKK exactly once. I was about 6 or so years old and they'd set up a road block handing out pamphlets and taking donations in a small town we were passing through.

A lot of KKK types are more into gun clubs and neo-confederate get ups these days. Also, it seems like a lot of ex-military whites are klan sympathizers. I think McVeigh moved from New York to some southern state like Arkansas or Tennessee to associate with klansmen and other militia types.
That is probably why a lot of people outside the south are reluctant to hire southern whites or give them an opportunity in most places. I mean, Ole Miss had klan rallies and sympathizers show up to their football games in 2010. Now they have the Alt Right, which has mainstreamed their worldview to some degree.
No offense... but you're a fricking idiot.

You can bet the left send troublemakers in to conservative rallies disguised as conservatives to try and make us look bad in front of the MSM scum.

They've been greatly diminished. Pretty sure this is no longer an event at the Texas State Fair in Dallas.

I'd bet anything you're wrong about that. You have seen them. You've almost certainly seen them within the past week. You just don't know it.

What year was that? It is hard to imagine KKK flyers at the Red River Rivalry/Texas State Fair.
Lyndon Johnson was the greatest Texan. Seriously, he prevented TX from becoming like Louisiana and Arkansas.
