Looking forward to Barnett's shuttle time. Agree on Thomas' ceiling...starting to really like him.
Don't really have an opinion on Taco yet.
1st round is so damn loaded at DE.

Barnett with a 4.44 in the short shuttle. Overall his numbers were very similar to Terrell Suggs combine numbers.
COMBINE RESULTS
40 YARD DASH: 4.88 SEC
VERTICAL JUMP: 31.0 INCH
BROAD JUMP: 117.0 INCH
3 CONE DRILL: 6.96 SEC

well the combine doesn't end until Monday evening, so I guess on Tuesday we will get 4 or 5 new mock drafts posted from everybody and their uncle lol

While obviously both are extremely early into their NFL careers to completely judge whether if one player was a better draft choice over the other, Derek Barnett is already flashing the pass rushing skills this preseason, that had me feeling like he was a can't miss prospect to begin with. If Marcus Lattimore doesn't live up to his draft position, it could very well be another black eye for the organization in terms of their ability to scout & project defensive prospects under Sean Payton.

Eagles rookie Derek Barnett has been dominant so far this preseason

Philadelphia Eagles rookie edge defender Derek Barnett has been dominating thus far in preseason, showing glimpses of the kind of pressure he can apply on the quarterback through two preseason games.
Barnett has rushed the passer 42 times in his 59 snaps across two preseason games, getting home three times for sacks, but also racking up an additional two hits and four hurries. He owns the league’s second-best pass rushing productivity score so far this preseason among 4-3 defensive ends. The Eagles own the top three scores as a team.

Really wanted Barnett but we had to take Lattimore after he fell. And given our constant corner woes it was the right call. Just hope he delivers.

Barnett is also injured
Which appears to be a minor injury.

There is a buzz around Philadelphia thanks to the productive play from Eagles 2017 first-round pick Derek Barnett. Through two preseason games, Barnett has three sacks and plenty of QB pressures.
Barnett was not one of the Eagles players that took the field on Sunday when they returned to practice. His absence was not explained until after practice when Doug Pederson took the podium for his press conference.
Pederson said Barnett is listed as day-to-day due to a lower body injury. The coach would not divulge any further details, so the injury is something to monitor in the coming days.

In 2 preseason games, Barnett's pass rushing skills are undeniable.

You posted your validation bump on August 20th after just 2 preseason games. C'mon, man.

Outside of Cam Jordan, our pass rushing woes have been just as consistent.

I clearly stated that it is early in both player's careers to really judge either player but it isn't just the numbers Barnett has put up in preseason but the manner in which he is accomplishing those numbers. You really need to watch the video clips I posted to get an understanding as to just how dominant Barnett has been so far. He is manhandling tackles. Henderson for Buffalo is a starter so he isn't some back up scrub either.

Maybe you should try harder.

Can't get pressure if we constantly give up all these quick passes that we have since 2014.
Yes we sure could use another pass rusher, but we haven't had two good/great corners healthy together for quite some time. Without corners that can keep from getting beat quick or that can press we could have all the top rushers in the league and still not get sacks.

This is both true & false. It's false because as a defensive coordinator, you can sometimes disguise your coverages presnap to create a second or two of hesitation from an opposing QB, allowing time for your pass rush to get there or you can force the QB to make a quick decision into throwing to his hot read.
It's true because you can't disguise your coverages or fronts every play otherwise you put your front in position to be susceptible to a down hill power run play. Most importantly, the more opportune time to use coverage disguises is in obvious passing situations/downs.

It's very easy to separate the posters on this board who really understand the intricacies of football to those who don't. Again, try harder.

How many sacks this year you think?
Posted on 8/20/17 at 1:05 pm to BigBrod81
But given our current coordinator it is very true. All this off man/zone playing 8-10 yards off and giving up EVERY pass to backs and short passes to TEs and WRs it doesn't matter who we have rushing.
With Allen's scheme you need top notch corners that can read the play and fly up on any short passes. Vaccaro greatly helps in this regard but we need other guys like him.
