Question about "The Walking Dead"

Something that has always bugged me, in the pilot, the little girl zombie picks up her teddy bear and Morgan's wife turns the doorknob.
Have the creators ever commented on these two actions from the dead? Is it something the dead did early on in the outbreak, still have muscle memory or something?
And can you guess who these actresses played in TWD (something I saw on FB)

One also picked up a large rock and tried to break through a window in and early episode. Pretty sure one climbed a fence, too.

The writers intentionally dumbed down the walkers after season 1.
This is probably the explanation that would be given for the show too.

They've explained it off at one point. Can't remember if it was different writers, directors etc for the first season. I can't remember what they said about it but you can find it online.
The girls, without looking, I would say
#1 Zombie Girl with teddy bear.
#2. Carol's Daughter
#3 Don't know.

They've grown up well.

Would have never guessed Penny. Although there weren't too many kids on the show.

Pretty much a smoke screen answer. There are still a certain amount of fresh zombies. Not a one scales a fence or twists a door knob or carries around any kind of object. They simply wanted to dumb down the dead- which was a good call IMO.
