No, he's not, especially in IT.

Are there some companies abusing this? Of course, but that is NOT what I see as a norm. Besides, those with these skill sets that are in demand will leave their employer if they are underpaid and go elsewhere. One of the reasons why they love America. LOL

Now IF Trump is willing to help American companies also with training/development to help replace these H1Bs, then I will listen. Until then, kicking these productive folks out will not help many in the industry.

I'm not an H1B expert so correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought that was one of the stipulations of the visa - that foreign workers *can't* leave because they are sponsored by the employer? So once the foreign worker gets here and realizes they are underpaid, they can't just apply for a new higher paying job because they are tied to the employer sponsoring their visa.

I would in the tech sector and I do believe most of the large tech companies do abuse this. I have had H1-B workers reporting to me that were paid 2/3 of what their american peers were. And they weren't given raises either.

Abuse is rampant.

In fact, Oracle is being sued over this at the moment.

I do agree that many tech companies would be fricked if they couldn't staff with H1B. Honestly we can't get qualified candidates to apply to our positions as it is, and they are demanding very high salaries for very junior people.
