I call bullshite on this "New Orleans doesnt have ethnic food" argument. Are we missing say a volume of Korean restaurants, sure but we have a great one in Korea House. And the vast number of Vietnamese spots is something to behold. So really what etnic food are we missing?

Dollar for dollar, I think New Orleans is the best restaurant city in America and has a better indigenous food culture than any other place in the argumentative analysis.

New Orleans doesn't have the sheer amount of Indian, Korean, Burmese, Ethiopian, etc. that other cities have.

I love New Orleans as much as anyone, but the ethnic dining scenes in New York or SF blow it out of the water.

Where's the best Sauerbraten? Okroshka? Omakase? Bigos?

I appreciate the New Orleanian passion, but this is funny.

New Orleans is a top five, but it earns that through its unique food culture.

Ethnic chinese is pretty bad/non-existent. We have no Malay. Pretty much all Asian cuisine is lacking outside of Vietnamese, mediocre sushi, and American Chinese.

It should not keep us out of top 5 consideration though. It basically means we are small market with limited diversity. However we should be considered top 5 because we have our own cuisine and influences which chefs have now melded with others in unique and interesting ways that you do not see anywhere else. New Orleans has its own evolving culinary identity like no other in this nation.

Maybe you should try leaving NOLA sometime

NOLA has a decent to above average variety of ethnic food but it just can't compete with much larger cities that have a much better variety.
