I had a six month period not too long ago where I really started liking some of their stuff. Then I realized how vapid it was and meh...

Since this thread is about Foreigner I will go ahead and post my (probable) favorite song of theirs.
Dirty White Boy
Just like the guitars right out of the gate on this one.

If you are leaning on "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and "Waiting For A Girl Like You", I get it.
However, if you rollout "Dirty White Boy", "Feels Like The First Time" and "Long, Long Way From Home" I gotta say no as those songs have some solid guitar work.

I love 79s music and my favorite rock bands had their peak in the 70s, but it also had a lot of pop bands like Foreigner:
Kansas
Styx
Boston
Steve Miller
And then they had the easy listening pop bands:
Orleans
Air Supply
Little River

When in high school in the late '80's, I liked the early stuff from the '70's, but hated "4".
As an adult, I really don't care for their early stuff anymore, BUT, the adult in me really has grown to like "Foreigner 4".
Waiting For a Girl Like You & Urgent are good tunes, IMO.

I think by the 1980s Chicago locked up the "worst band" category. That group started out good but devolved into rottenness after about 1976.

yeah probably. they are truly awful.

It's always so amusing when folks with zero musical education show this to the rest of us. To begin with, about 2% of the singers in rock bands could pull off the vocals to those Foreigner songs. Guy had an amazing arse vocal range. Don't believe me....try singing along to some of it.
