At a quick glance, has basketball in Louisiana every been this bad?

Realistically, where do you see LSU stacking up compared to the other in-state basketball schools?

Tulane is 4-18.
Nicholls State is 11-12.
Southeastern LA is 13-10.
ULL is 14-8.
McNeese State is 6-14.
Northwestern State is 9-10.
ULM is 7-15.
Louisiana Tech is 14-8.
Grambling is 10-12.
Southern is 9-13.

Conference standings should matter more than overall standings for some of those schools, since in some cases, the teams were likely overmatched in the non-conference slate.

Louisiana Tech and Southeastern for example are in the upper tier of their conferences. Southern is in the middle of the pack in their conference.

Lsu is prob the best in the state...but barely. We could lose to anyone with the way we play defensively

5 Louisiana teams made the tourney in 1993 and it's been downhill ever since.

True.

But the level of competition is generally the same

Meaning SEC talent vs SEC talent compared to American League vs American League. Or whatever

Jay Ladner would have LSU in the tourney every year.

Another brief high point in 1998 right before Mike Bibby put NSU's head on a stake.

Lol Jay Ladner. 21-43 in his first 2 season. Improved this year but still average. Roman Banks is by far the best basketball coach in the state. Ladner is an average coach at best.

Seriously. They didn't even have a basketball program a few years ago and now they're a top program in the nation in their division. Let's hire their coach

Tulane and ULL easily have better HCs than LSU as well. Is Banks definitely better than Tulane's coach?

Banks is the real deal. I'm not sure if he wants to be an AD or a coach long term but if he wanted to be a coach long term he'll be in a power 5 in the next 5 years and will win wherever he goes. Defensive minded, can recruit, and doesn't take shite from anybody.

Serious question from last night...does JJ ever rip into anyone and sub them out for being blatantly lazy on plays? Blakeney clearly didn't box out his man on one play and we got an easy put back and he just carried on his way and jacked up a horrid shot on his end. No consequence.

Frank Martin would still be lighting up his arse for that. What the hell do they do in practice? I mean, it was so bad with such poor effort, I was even embarrassed for y'all

UL-Lafayette and LA Tech would both beat us this year.
