Not saying many on here aren't in the top 5% but its not easy to make 165k no matter what anybody says.
and before anybody says I am jeleous, not quite. But its stupid to assume that its easy to make 165k and anybody with a degree can do it.

its a statistical comparison of salaries from the department of labor, thats how.
Im glad you have been making that since the late 80's(if you are telling the truth, then fricking retire already) but the facts are that income for individual earners puts you in the 89th percentile of individual earners( and in the late 80s and 90s put you in the top 1%).
That income for a household is top 9%.

No. You are right. Just look at the threads asking what posters need to retire. Most claim 5-10 million. That alone shows they have no concept of finance.

For those who are making 150+, mind sharing your occupation?

A smart couple can retire on much less provided they setup prior to retirement. Pay off house, loans etc. it's the ones who still want to live paycheck to paycheck in retirement that need that volume.

Yeah, I know. Tis the reason they are clueless on actual incomes.

If you're a hard worker in sales, 165k is not a ridiculous number at all, depending on what you're selling.
But to the issue at hand, I think it's already been said, but the biggest issue here is double-dipping on the benefits.
It is very unethical to use Company A's car/phone/etc. to sell Company B's product, without their knowledge. On the flip side, it is also very unethical to pocket allowances from your employer which are meant to pay for something that you are being provided with by another company (again, without their knowledge). You can spin it however you want, but it's essentially theft.

Sales jobs will fire you if you are not producing. It is a selfish industry and I think as long as your friend can handle the work load then frick the employers. If he is meeting/exceeding his quotas then he doesnt really owe them anything more. Some sales jobs even cap your commissions past a certain point. He should do what is best for him and 165K is pretty damn
Posted on 1/24/17 at 10:42 am to Bojangles
Idiotic. It's not if he gets caught, it's when. He should talk to the one he likes better, explain the situation, and see what they say.
When he gets canned, it will terrible to potential new employers because he lied and was deceitful.

As long as he gets his work done then I don't see the problem. Not their business what he does.
Posted on 1/24/17 at 11:41 am to 777Tiger
I would tell him to do it for as long as he can get away with it.

oh yea its so easy thats why less than 2% of the population is doing it huh?
No offense but many of you sales people are completely clueless on income levels of normal people.

Opinions are split basically 50/50 on this topic.
Interesting.
I believe bottom line is that you and me and every other person you know in life is simply a number to all employers.
Do what's best for you, not the company, especially if it's short term as this scenario is.
I can assure you they always will, that's been my life experience.
