You don't think the EPA thought of that? Obviously it's been tested and found that it doesn't have any adverse effects to other species



ETA: If I had to guess it attacks their stomach liner or intestines and thats how it kills them

It's a specific poison which hogs are sensitive too because of their inability to metabolize. Doesn't last in the food chain or hurt scavengers.
