Amazon Fire TV Remote

I'm giving up on this POS. It un-pairs from the device every time it shuts down. The remote can't be used to wake the device. I have to unplug and reset it every day. (Or use the app on iPhone)
It doesn't give me the option to update the remote to the newest software.
Brand new batteries.
I've returned the first one. Second is doing the same thing.
Anyone have a fix?

Is it the Fire tv itself maybe?
Are you powering it from the wall or do you have it powered by the tv USB?

Mine does that occasionally. I pop one battery out for a second then back in and it usually works again.

Weird I haven't seen that issue

Never had that problem..just recently started getting the battery is low warning..
Just for test purposes, download the fire tv remote app to your phone and see if your phone stays connected..if it has issues then it's probably the device..
Like someone else said, do you have it plugged into a USB plug on your tv or plugged into an outlet directly? I've read sometimes it doesn't get enough power through the USB slot in your tv.

Plugged into an outlet. The app on the phone works fine.
I noticed that in settings it shows that the remote has an old version and may need to be updated but it doesn't give me the prompt like troubleshooting suggests. And this is the second device as well as remote.
If I restart everything it works fine but once the main console turns off, the remote may as well be a potato.

Not sure man. I've got 3 fire tvs and 2 sticks and have never had an issue as described.
I'd call Amazon and ask them to help you out. If their tech support is on the level of their regular customer service, it should be pretty painless.

It's most likely your Amazon Fire TV device. Something to do with your wireless network. If you could try changing the network channel on your modem, it might work.
If not, call them. I did and they went through the steps and determined it wasn't working. They sent me a brand new remote for free and it worked okay for a little while. It eventually started acting like the other one so it's either my Fire TV device or something to do with my wireless.
It didn't act like this before I moved where I moved and before I started using the modem I'm using now.

Its the remote. They have known issues and Amazon will more than likely send you a new one. I gave up messing with the remote after the second one they sent crapped out. I just use the app now.

I have a similar issue with the Fire Stick in my bedroom. The fire tv in my living room works flawlessly. However, i figured out that my fire stick works a little different. I have to let it fully boot and then wait about 5-10 seconds before i hit the 'home' button. after that it works fine. it sucks and bothers me, but it least it works.

My roommate just got a Fire TV and the remote didn't work from day 1.
