Croata thread from a couple of weeks ago
Check of Plitvice National Park, its really beautiful.
You can do a day trip from Dubrovnik to check out the fjords in Montenegro.
If you are driving from Budapest or Vienna to Croatia, you may want to stop in Ljubliana, Slovenia and/or Lake Bled in slovenia.
Zagreb is nice but its not as nice as Hvar, Dubrovnik or even Split.

I spent two months in Eastern Europe and this was my favorite part of the trip. Lake Bled and the surrounding area is amazing. Beautiful, great hiking and some nightlife. Ljubljana is awesome too. Clean, great architecture, nightlife and food.
