Guys, I think this is a great example to explore the fake news/bad reporting dichotomy.
The Infowars writer was tricked by someone into publishing a fake story. However, the writer reported seems to have accurately reported how that person got into touch with him and the content of his tall tale.
So I rate this not as "fake news" but just very bad reporting. Writer went with one source, completely unvetted, and got burned with a hoax.

A singular source gives information that isn't vetted should not be passed as news.
That is basic journalism. I'm not a journalist and I know that.
The fact that it was reported as news without being verified shows that this individual has an agenda.
Fake news.
