When involved in black markets, there is no means of dispute resolution as there is in legal business - should your dope man renege on a verbal contract, the only means of redress is violence, as you can't call Johnny Law and tell them that you got screwed over or robbed in a drug deal.
I'm almost certain that 70%+ of these shootings are related to drug trade. The only way to combat this is to go super authoritarian, or to legalize the markets and let capitalism do its wonderful, wonderful thing.

Yet the PD is using excessive force?
2016.. the Police killed 11 people, wounded 14.
But after learning about Chicago PD's "secret," and terribly unconstitutional, interrogation center, there is also a clear corruption problem in the PD itself.
This isn't an either or situation.

Frankly, I think both have a terrifying incentive for crime and authortarian policies to persist.

Why aren't their gun laws working?

Barry will come to their rescue, he loves that town.

You do realize, of course, that New Orleans has a worse murder rate, per population, than Chicago.

quote:New Orleans Murder ArticleChicago's population (-2.7 million) is about 7.36 times New Orleans (~370,000). According to the above article NO had 164 murders, making Chicago's 762 murders last year at about 4.65 greater.

In other words, New Orleans had a higher murderr rate.

Don't know if that is true, as I don't know the true numbers, but it seems like NO's Murder problem is further reaching.... Meaning, it is all across the city, where as Chicagos is confined to the South and West.
I've said it numerous times, walking through downtown Chicago and Michigan Ave late at night is as safe as I've ever felt. I would do that 100 times before I would walk through downtown NO at night.

they have their own crude justice system, we see evidence of it at work every day

But according to Loretta Lynch and the Civil Rights Division the CPD is to blame...the FOP President gets it, "We'll take our chances with the Trump Justice Dept"
