House alarm monitoring service

I have been using ADT since I bought my house. I know they are a little overpriced, but I know the service that I am getting. My wife has been trying to push me to Honeywell bc they are cheaper; but she does not know how well they respond since they have never needed to use them.
Any recommendations I should be checking out? Looking to upgrade the system and add a few more cameras (which would require an entire new system w/ ADT anyway since I already maxed out the model I have).
Edit to include needs. 20 windows, 3 entry doors, 3 Hi-Def cameras, 4 corner cameras to catch the sides of the house.

We have Moni(formerly Monitronics). We are pretty satisfied with it.

Go local for monitoring. I'm assuming all the window/doors are hardwired ?

Call ADT and tell them you are switching, and they will happily match or even go lower than the competitors price.

What are the cons of just setting up your own system with access by your phone and footage stored on the cloud? Seems both doable and affordable.

I would still want monitoring

What's you logic behind this? If it is simply to support a local business, I fully agree. However I don't think it nationally owned company is going to have any different response than a local one. In fact maybe a larger company would have a better response.
My phone will call just as fast down the street as it will across the country. In fact, I use a local company for my monitoring only because the I know the owner and we have worked together on some other projects. With that said every time I have an issue with my house where the power goes out or something else I get a phone call from a number that is not within my area code. I've never asked him where his monitoring is located but it is a shared monitoring service.

I don't even see the point of monitoring.
If someone is goign to break into your house and steal stuff when you aren't there, your monitored alarm isn't goign to stop them. IF you have an alarm and it goes of and isnt' monitored, the bad guy doesn't know that. If the bad guy breaks into your house at night while your sleeping, the altercation bewteen you and the bad guy either won't happen b/c they run after the alarm goes off, or you have duel before the monitoring get a cop there.
The monitoring is only as good as the cops response time.
I think it's all a waste of money, and when my contract is up with ADT, i'll cancel it and get it to where the alarm still works, just isn't monitored. I just want to know when someone enters my house. I'll defend it myself, i don't need to hide and wait 10 minutes for a cop to show up. hell thats impossible with my 5 and 3 year old since they don't know how to hide without talking or peeking.

Yes to support a local business. Local company, local jobs, local suppliers.

To automatically trigger help in the event of an emergency. When it comes to protecting your home and family I really don't see the point of being cheap.
