When a RB catches a ball 5-10 yards behind the line of scrimmage knowing damn well they'll get tackled immediately. Just bat the ball down and save the yards.
That would be a fumble.

I'm guessing he's talking about a screen pass

Late hit on the QB when the ball is obviously already gone.
Just a dumb move

Not a mistake really but it I hate how every single football player who downs a punt insists on making love to the ball after

How is getting tackled by an opposing player a mistake?
I think he is referring to not getting rid of the ball before getting tackled as the mistake, even if it's just a desperation heave like Arkie against Ole Miss in 2015. Getting tackled ends the game, so literally anything is better.

On 4th downs, only the fumbling player can recover a fumble. Otherwise, it's a dead ball at the spot of the fumble. I guess your situation only works if someone catches that throw.

A player returning a blocked PAT attempt that gets tackled without trying to lateral the ball to another player.
If the blocking/returning team fumbles and the kicking team picks it up, they can run to the end zone and get a 1-point safety, can't they? Or is that only if the ball travels past the LoS after being blocked?

"It's not like we had a lateral play or were running a play that would give us a chance to score," Brown continued. "In that situation, I was singularly focused on trying to get into the end zone. Even if I fall down in bounds, the game is over."

All the excessive celebration penalties. Rule has been in place for years. 2 point conversion attemps in blowout games.

More hitters should bunt to beat the shift.

The phrase... "Catching the ball at it's highest point"
The ball is on it's way DOWN. It is not at it's highest fricking point.

Using a timeout for a delay of game penalty any time other than last 3 or 4 minutes.
If it is 3rd and 10 already in the 1st, that extra 5 ain't going to make too much of a difference.

Like this there genius. I know what a fumble is.
So how would he know to not catch the ball?
Posted on 1/13/17 at 10:17 am to shel311
He caught it 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage running the opposite way. Not to mention the moment he the ball gets there he is being wrapped up already.

I still don't follow your point on that specific play. There was literally no way for him to know that guy was going to hit him the moment he caught it.
What if that guy was blocked and down on the ground. He bats the ball down with running room, then what?

I detest fade routes in the endzone on anything but 1st&Goal.
