Want something with solid battery life and don't want to spend overpriced Bose or Beats money.
What are some quality products at competitive prices?

Sennheiser
Nevermind.
I have wired Bose ones and Wireless Sennheisers.
Bose is more comfortable. Sennheiser has better audio.

I wouldn't buy Bose as normal high quality wired cans
I wouldn't buy Beats regardless
But Bose is still king of ANC despite the senny advancement. The QC35 are great.
Maybe Sony?

I just assumed Bose was overrated in this category like everything else.
They're the best?

Like I said, I own the Wired Bose QC 25 and the Sennheiser PCX 550 Wireless
Bose is more comfortable. Senn fits a bit tighter but is still comfortable and you can move around more without them moving around.
Senn sound better. It's Sennheiser.
I really like the touch controls on the Sennheiser
I can't tell a difference in the noise cancelling between the two.
But the Senns are $$$$$$

I think Sennheiser just put out new phones at CES that come in at around 200 bucks and which Engadget claims are getting pretty close to Bose (I don't really look to Engadget for audio but the reviews just started coming in this week). But I have no idea personally or whether they're available yet, etc.
As for other competitors, there are some highly-rated BT and NC headphones out there, but most come in at/above the price of the Bose QC35s. If you must have bluetooth and noise cancelling, I think at least for now, the QC35 is still the gold standard for all around performance.
FWIW I use my QC35s about 80% of the time, because the SQ is decent and the convenience is top notch. They split time with some closed Sennheisers (Momentum line), Audio Technicas and Senn HD598s. The only other Bose headphones I own (or would own) are some ear buds I bought in a pinch on a trip once. I put noise cancellation Bose products in an entirely different category than their other stuff.

Does price drop significantly for a quality product if I remove active noise cancelling from the equation?
How much are solid quality wireless over-ear head phones with good battery life?

I've been impressed with Oontz Buds 2. Can buy on Amazon for $30.

I caught a pair of these on sale for around $40 a year ago and they really are great headphones (tad on the heavier side since partially metal but really comfortable).

My noise cancellation headphones from Bose get used almost daily. I love the damn things. I don't know how people fly without them.

This doesnt fit your wish on cost but these are amazing headphones.
V-Moda
And no you don't have to get the fancy shields on the side. They have normal ones as well.
I returned my Bose for these and am very glad I did. I am not a fan of the active noise cancellation as is distracting to me at least.

Bose makes good headphones. Regular speakers? No.

there are heavier duty ones for planes.
I use my Bose daily. & for sleep. dogs across the street.
No one really addressed his battery question as far as I can tell. my Bose chews through batteries something awful.

I find the Bose noise cancellation to be less intrusive than any other I've tried. But I agree, if you don't need it, don't get it. It certainly impairs SQ.

I got these bad boys for Christmas. I love them. Mine are black. I wear them literally all day at work. Noise cancelling on, music blasting.. battery lasts all day. I have a headphone stand i put them on and charge them via usb port on PC.
