The issue is the revenue produced by the two sports. MBB is the only sport other than football that is guaranteed to be in the black every year. That's because of the SEC's television contract. Baseball makes money when it gets to the post season and hosts.
No matter how good any of the Olympic sports are, they always lose money.
Before anyone bashes me for this info, I got it from a lunch with Marc Ewing (the finance AD) several years ago. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm not knocking gymnastics or the other smaller sports in general.

That's a ridiculous post. It has zero to do with gender. It's all about how much money the two sports make, and that's in large part due to television contracts.
Miles made 4 times more than Jones --- was it racism???
