Unlike what you clowns think, prison isn't supposed to be a cake walk.
What makes you think I believe prison should be a cake walk?
Oh that's right, nothing.

That might be the best idea I've heard in a long time.
Using inmates takes job opportunities away from the hard working citizens and businesses

Has anyone ever watched Shawshank Redemption? The warden used the inmates to do various jobs in the community but he was able bid/do the job cheaper than businesses in the community. It led to the warden getting kick backs so he wouldn't underbid the competition.
The concept of inmate labor is good and I think there is definitely a place for it, but I think it should be limited.
The true question in this scenario is should a private company gain wealth from the taxpayers for performing a service if inmate labor can save the taxpayers money?

It will create jobs to watch said inmates. Many other jobs as well.

Inmates that refuse to work or do poor work will get bread, water and vitamins.
Inmates that want to truly MAGA will get good food.

I've never seen a poster that posts so much but has yet to say a damn thing.
Bring some game shill or stay at the fricking house.

You post as much as I do, and your narrow minded bigotry has never really brought much to the table.
Not that you were really trying though.

I would even go a bit further. Decide on some wage for them and put it into an interest bearing account. Upon completion of their sentence, they get 10% off the money they earned while working on the wall.
They go two years without getting in additional trouble, they get all of the money.
F THAT. They already get free room, board, food, medical care, internet, AC/Heat, etc ... while guests of the state.
Tell them to do the work ... or get shot and buried under the wall.

I'm sure that comes close to opportunity lost from the alternative

Of course.
Slavery is outlawed EXCEPT in the case of punishment for crime.
So, I'm agreeing that having inmates build the wall as slave labor is perfectly fine. But many here must think that is a terrible idea.

We do that a lot here. County inmates built a lot of our sidewalks in my small town. I believe we call them trustees. The non violent offenders.

Just like Norton's famous Inside Out program...
How's that gonna bring back jobs? Kickbacks and apple pie???
Bring back the WPA!
If we can build Dams, Hospitals and bridges, we can build a wall. (at minimal cost of migrant labor)...Of course, and a big poster of Rita Hayworth.

Punishment for a crime isn't slavery.
Anything else?
Anything else?

We agree.
But
Slavery can be a punishment for crime under the 13th.
So, we're both right
