Looking into taking the wife for a long weekend to Vegas for Mardi Gras. We always fly southwest but the prices right now are really high. I'm assuming it's flights out of Nola for that time of the year. Not much direct and some are as much as 600 bucks one way. Anybody think these will come down some in the next 2-3 weeks? TIA

Was just about to start this thread too, not meaning to hijack yours.

Looking to go somewhere flying out of Houston or Nola, no particular place in mind either.

Been trying to mess with google flights but can't seem to get prices like you bring here. Looking to go anytime between Jan 4-Jan 17.

Are you open to not flying southwest?

American is about half that price but with a layover and Spirit is 1/3 the price and non-stop. (Yes Spirit occasionally has issues but usually not on direct flights)

what dates are you looking at? check out Google flights. You can set up alerts when prices change for specific flight dates / times.

Also, from what a couple of airline friends tell me, prices are cheaper if you book on a Tuesday (not leave on Tuesday).

Seeing 175 round trip in January, February, and March.... Not sure exactly when Mardi Gras is this year though....

This would be Sprint so if leg room and bringing extra bags is an issue then you appear to be looking at 230 a person.

I have no idea where you are looking on southwest's site, but mardi gras is tues feb 28th this year and it's nowhere near $600 one way. It's $170 on either the morning or evening nonstops on Thursday, Feb 23rd and $138 on the evening nonstop on Tuesday, Feb 28th. Grand total of $308

Use the link below to click through to southwest's site and see for yourself
