Meopta Meopro vs. Vortex Viper HS

Meopta Meopro 4-12X50 BDC Reticle #537910
Vortex Viper HS 4-16X50 Dead Hold BDC Reticle #VHS-4307
Trying to make a decision between the two for my next hunting purchase. Both can be had for under $500. I know the Meopta is the “official scope of the OB” but I was hoping someone who has had time behind both or someone like Carson or IGChris could help me out. The main difference that I can tell between the two is the Meopta has a 1” tube and the Vortex has a 30mm.
Will be used on a .308 primarily for whitetail (250 yards max) and maybe an elk hunt in the future if I’m lucky.
Thanks OB.

Meopta 1000x before Vortex. I've found that a lot of people love vortex but they are always using the warranty.

I own the exact Meopro that you have linked and I've been very happy with it. It's on par with some of the better Leupolds that I've had. Performs very well in low light conditions and the clarity is phenomenal.
ETA: I found Vortex to be a bit subpar to Meopta. I have a low end Vortex on my 35 Whelen and I'd go with the Meopro over it any day

I have a Meopta r1 and I don't find it any better than my Vortex Viper HS. Both have 30mm tubes with 50mm objectives.
Go look at them your self before buying online and make the call. Everyone seems to have a different opinion when looking though glass.

If clarity, color, contrast, low light performance, and resolution are the most important then Meopta is the way to go.
If you want to be cool on Instagram or Facebook then get the Vortex.

And if you're an American male, you get a Leupold.

Worst eye reliefs of all time, no thanks. They're also coated for the same spectrum of light as Vortex (yellow/red), which is not optimal. You want blue/green

I had the same decision last year. I believe the Meopta was $70-80 more at the time. I just liked the eye relief of the Vortex. Meopta is better in low light. Like someone else said look through both and decide for yourself what you like better.
