I've always had two different pairs of boots: Ariats to frick around with and wear during activities or functions where they might get dirty, and Lucchese's to wear to work or for more formal occasions. They both serve their purpose well

Exact same for me.
OP, you've given good advice in car buying threads so let me repay you.
First off, Tony Llama shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Luchesse.
Secondly, you need to figure out what you want in a boot. Luchesse makes some of the best exotics (barring someone like Leddy's in FW where the boot is made FOR you), but they don't have a broken-in fit like Ariats do. Ariat has some excellent Ostrich boots if you want to go that route, and their Quantum Sole is one of the best out there. You will never have to resole it.
Like Shane, I mainly wear a pair of Ariats as my every day boot. Like a lot of guys, I prefer the Ariat Ramblers (GOAT). These can be had for 160 or so. Make sure you get the earth color as it comes with a soft shaft and is WAY more comfortable than the darker version.

i also bust out the Quantum Branders from time to time. This is a limited run boot they did, but they still offer a very nice Quantum Classic in different shades if you want the sole
This particular color is called Yuma Tan, but the Classic is available in a darker brown and a peanut brittle brown. They all retail for 550, but I worked at a hunting/fishing store that sold Ariat and got them 60% off

Where Luchesse really separates itself from Ariat is in the quality of the Caiman. Ariat can't touch them here. This is a pair of Brants, which go for 650 or so. Love them

Tldr, if you want standard leather or ostrich, go Ariat. They're more comfortable and there's not enough of a gap in quality to justify price difference. If you want Caiman or similar exotic, go Luchesse
Also, LOL at the guy saying Ariat is made for women because a boot that he tried on 20 years ago didn't fit him. They're the #1 selling boot at every boot store on earth.
Also, don't ever buy smooth quill ostrich. It's fine, really, but all people will think about you is "couldn't afford full quill lmao"
