Absolutely this. You can get the high end, fully loaded turbo model a couple years old for $16-18k and it's a NICE ride.
If you want something more on the "luxury" side with a not-so-luxury price tag (but still extremely reliable), look at a Volvo S60, Infiniti G35, or a Lexus IS250. You can usually find some 2014-15 models for under $20k. The Volvo is one of the safest 4-door "sport saloons" on the road, and the Infiniti is an upgraded Nissan while the Lexus is an upgraded Toyota. These cars will have slightly higher price tags up front, but the resale down the road is much higher than their base model counterparts.
