It's a quote that doesn't make any sense to be sure.
Alleva's PR skills might be the worst I've ever seen from a university official. I thought these letters and statements were supposed to be carefully crafted.

Depends on what someone defines as "necessary" doesn't it? But then again, you know more about it than the group deciding what was in the best interest of LSU football. Please never attend or watch another LSU football game.

There were very clearly defined monetary values for what would have qualified as "necessary". Alleva and King both knew what it would have taken to bring in Jimbo or Herman.
Joe Alleva's response - "(LSU) wasn't going to be held hostage."
If you're happy that our AD operates in this manner, then by all means, enjoy the next few years watching a football program managed by Orgeron - because a few years is all you're going to get.
