Germans are a miserable people.
They're a bunch of drunks who love going to beer halls and getting slammed among their brothers. They haven't been known for being that much of a miserable culture since the Wall was torn down.

What were you doing while you were living in China and what was the age range of people you lived with?

Russians individually can be great. I was just on the phone with a friend of mine (well, more of a business colleague, but we get along great) in Moscow and we talked about Trump, Putin. No animosity.
I have lived in Moscow (for just under a year) and Eastern Europe for 30 years. I know a lot of them.
The problem is the good Russians are far outnumbered by the crude ones who refuse to stand in line, do not tip, smoke in the lavatory of a plane, get drunk and hostile.
Too many of them. Try to avoid vacationing where they go - never go to Cyprus for example.
But again, there certainly are exceptions. The best man at my wedding was (and is) a Russian. Great guy and one of my best friends. (And he would agree with everything I just wrote).

I haven't traveled much but I've gotten to know immigrants and college exchange students from just about every country in the world. The Germans told me that the beer drinking is southern Germany. They were from northern Germany.
The only foreigner I really disliked was from Albania. I don't know much about Albania but if she was upper class then it's the pits.
