Boeing & Lockheed look to move fighter jet production to india.

I guess they didn't get the memo.

Will Trump blame Obama when they leave or take the credit because some jobs are staying like he did with Carrier?
quote:
Lockheed Martin and Boeing are the two major companies involved in discussions to build fighter aircraft production plants in India as part of that country’s “Make in India” initiative, which is essentially a mirror-image of President-elect Trump’s aggressive desire to keep manufacturing jobs within the United States. Trump has made retaining blue-collar jobs a post-election priority, and he’s already had a high-profile success in preventing the loss of several hundred jobs at Indiana’s Carrier plant.
quote:
“Make in India” program, which is the brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to eventually increase the country’s manufacturing base to a quarter of the gross domestic product. So when the Indian government required new jets to replace its aging fleet, any corporation that wanted to be involved knew the planes – an F-16 by Lockheed or F/A-18 by Boeing – would have to be built in India.

would you fly a jet made in India?

Something that important and complicated should never be produced outside the US. That is a matter of security.
Posted on 12/9/16 at 2:47 am to TJGator1215
It now depends on what they want. Air superiority (made in the USA), or wreckage falling out of the sky or glomming onto a carrier deck (made in Russia). Will not be building US types in Bangalore. MAGA!

If they build just the indian jets in India, without taking away jobs from us, I don't see the problem.

The US has a similar policy on military items.

You realize that India paying Boeing and Lockheed to make jets in India doesn't mean jobs would leave the US, right?
It's not like they would close factories here and move their base of operations there.
Trumps issue with trade is preventing US companies from closing factories and firing US workers only to build abroad and try to import back to the US.
US companies expanding to other countries to supply those other countries with goods and services is not an issue.
But thanks for trying to reach for something to bitch and cry about.
Melt more, idiot.

You conveniently left out the salient fact:
So yes if these jobs do go to India, Trump will blame Obama and rightly so.
FAIL TROLL

The “Make in India” program is supported by President Obama’s outgoing administration, which is looking to strengthen ties with India. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter on Thursday visited India and an official statement said the two countries’ continued cooperation “will strengthen India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.” A Pentagon spokesperson declined to comment more specifically on the program.

>Trump blame Obama
It was Obama admin which was selling these F16s to India, with the promise to shift production to sweeten the deal...
Who else can you blame for this if not Obama ?
But there are too many hypothetical as it still depends on US approving the sale(and transfer of production lines) and India approving the purchase.
India recently approved purchase of Dassault Rafale, mainly because:
No need to sign intrusive agreements such as EUMA (End User Monitoring Agreement), LSA (Logistics Supply Agreement), CISMOA (Communication Interoperability and Security Memorandum Agreement), BECA (Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geo-Spatial Cooperation).

You are doing nothing more than stating the problem. People are seeing this happen everywhere. American manufacturing is being decimated, yet Trump and Bernie were the only people in the political sphere who seemingly heard the people on this issue.
I'm not sure if it was your intent, but the OP just makes Obama look like an aloof Patrician with his lectures about "the new normal" of automation and job lock. It'll be sad to watch liberals crow and beat their chests every time a job is offshored under Trump- you know they will.

None of our weapons manufacturing capabilities should be allowed outside of the US. Hell China steals designs from us now. How bad do you think it would be if they could just go across the border.
All the US has to do is threaten to pull contracts if they do it. I don't see this as losing jobs, as much as potential security risk.

Do you have the memo on that? Prove where Obama's doing that. Obama is more for free trade than Trump is. Trump wants to punish companies for the same thing he's done for forever. He wants to be able to tell companies how operate and choose who wins or loses otherwise he wouldn't be threatening them. He's no different than the democrats with forcing people to bake cakes. Why doesn't Trump step in and save these jobs too? Its because he doesn't have the skill unless he has help like he did with Carrier and the VP to be being the governor of Indiana.

Sekulow told FoxNews.com his office has already received calls from Lockheed workers in Fort Worth who’ve said they’re being given notice, offered severance packages or told they can apply to work on the F-35 program – though, with no guarantee of being accepted.
A Lockheed spokesperson, however, told FoxNews.com the Fort Worth plant was ramping down production anyway as the U.S. Air Force moved on from the antiquated F-16 and switched to the newer F-35 jet.

There was a kerfuffle a few years ago over some chips or mother boards offered for sale that could be used in F-14's of which Iran still has some. Rightly so too.
It is a fricked up world when Iran has F-14's and we don't.

I want to hear the phone call when some general has a problem:
"How can I provide you excellent customer service today"

Don't blame them with Trump antagonizing Boeing through twitter. A great American company that helped win WWII, and he treats them like they're some fast food joint.
Shameless.
Shameless.
