I am always amazed at how they find people that start fires. Seems damn near impossible without a confession or witnesses.

I am sure there are some fire fighters here that can clarify, but I remember hearing a fireman speak at a career day type thing in middle school and he asserted that they will always figure out how it started and who frickin' did it too. No sense in trying to hide it.

Something I've discovered over the years - everybody wants to tell everyone everything, all the time.
