Ok, so in the last 3 months my mom had her account information stolen and a bunch of people ran up $1500 worth of UBER rides in the Boston area on it over a 3 week period. Today my son (LSU freshman) who's account is brand fricking new (opened in July) has a charge come up on his account for something called Cabfly (basically Mexican UBER). I find it odd both accounts being Chase, and the stolen info being used for UBER type services. Anybody else experienced this or heard of anything like this? This is the first time my mom has ever had this happen and she has been with Chase forever.

Serious question: do you have a sibling who might have access to the accounts or have a way to get into them?

I have a sister who would have access to my mom's but not my son's. She's gainfully employed(never been to Boston or Mexico) and definitely would not steal from family and also doesn't have the technological or street sense to sell compromised banking info to a 3rd party for profit. She's not worldly

I had a charge for $1 from Cablfly show up on my account the week of Thanksgiving. I called and cancelled my card and got a letter today saying the charge never went through. Probably someone testing small amounts to see if a spoofed number is valid before making a large purchase.

Not in frat. Lives on campus and only uses his card for buying gas.

This is weird. I was going to start a thread last week.

I had three $1 charges on my checking account from Cabify last week. Guess they got my info and were testing my account. I called Chase on a Sunday night and they fixed it quickly. No idea how they got my info. People bug gas station card readers so maybe they're doing that. But the weird thing is I NEVER use my debit card except for at Chase ATMs so no idea how they could get my account info.

I googled cabify and this came up on yahoo answers.

Check out the second to last answer

Very odd, I have the same pending charge as well for the same amount. Not good. Do you live around the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area?

That's from 2 months ago. It's been going around for a while. frick these people.

I think it's strange that the transactions went through.
I have received a few alerts from Chase over the years for charges that they didn't think we're valid, all were under a few dollars.

This was for $7. He cancelled his card today also. Some fricking Southies went nuts with my moms info in Boston to the tune of $1500 in 3 weeks.
That had to be multiple people using the info. My Mom and son did go to Boston in February to tour Boston University which would possibly explain my mom's info but my son did not have an account then.

Damn so it looks like a BR scam. The gas stations he frequents the most are the Exxon South of campus on Highland and the Exxon on the corner of Hoo Shoo Too and Jefferson (Aunt and Uncle live out there).

I only use my chase card very infrequently, my only two transactions in November were Piccadilly and Benny's. But Picadilly uses a square reader and I'm guessing that's the culprit.

Hmmmm. I'll have to find out if either one used a square reader recently.

I don't use my Chase debit card except for at Chase ATMs. I wonder if it's some kind of hack or inside job. There's no way anyone got my info through my card.

Yea. If it's mainly in BR could be an inside job. I think my mom's and son's cases are probably unrelated.

Had the same thing happen this weekend- random small dollar amount to cabfly. Luckily chase detected it and notified me- I let them know I didn't make the charge and had to cancel it and get a new one. Good luck!
