If we want a true championship, put Bama in the East and let them trash all of those teams all year long, every year. Nobody doubts that Bama is the best team in the nation and they don't really need to play a tough schedule for people to believe that. Move Mizzou to the West because Mizzou is the west most team in the SEC and they don't really need another inconsistent team like that in the East.

That's the quickest fix. I have seen others with some good ideas that are more variable and conditional, which I like, but if you get Bama out of the west, you stand a shot at getting two teams in the playoffs.

Bama and auburn to the east and mizzou and Vandy to the west.
Keeps ut-bama and uga-au intact and satisfies better geographical footprint.
I've wanted this since sec went to 14.

We may be better off splitting the states Miss, Bama, and Tenn.

Everything is cyclical. Bama won't stay on top forever.

I don't dislike the makeup of the SEC West and I don't fear Bama, but the East is pathetic and needs a real player over there. I think it's unfair to take a mediocre team like Auburn and up their chances greatly by putting them in the East. Auburn, LSU, A&M, Arky, Ole Miss, and Miss State can go at it in the West at a respectable level....as they always have. Bama is an automatic in no matter where you put them. I am just trying to think of a way to make the SEC more competitive and Bama is in no matter who you play so why give LSU, Auburn, A&M, etc. an extra loss every year when most of those teams would win the East hands down?

I understand that, but we have a conference championship game that is rarely within 30 points. When was the last time that game was even competitive?

Not really. The west would still have to go through Bama to win the SEC but I don't think there's a real need to redo the divisions. There will come a time when the East has the best teams. If they did redo divisions though, they should put the seven most western teams in the west and the seven most eastern teams in the east.

Or just get rid of the divisions. Make every SEC game count. Two teams with the best records at the end play for the championship.

Yeah, I think most are forgetting the fact that this would probably put LSU vs. Bama as the SEC championship game and Bama would not be able to duck out of a loss and get a mulligan.

Mizzou in the East makes no sense at all. Bama or Auburn to the East makes geographical sense. The SEC championship is supposed to boost your resume', but as of now it's just another scrub game vs. a team that ranks in the middle of the 14 SEC teams in most people's mind.

I do remember a time when Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee were the big dawgs, but at that time, LSU and Auburn were giving them a run for their money in the championship games and even beating them several times. The East has always been top heavy, but now they have all fallen. The West has always showed more balance where we have seen every team except Ole Miss and A&M make it to an SEC championship game.

I have said this for a long time, not because of Alabama, but because the isolation from some teams to others.

It would be fun alternating schools and tailgating.

Fayetteville and College Station are both farther west.

I think a built in playoff the last three weeks works. As of now, we are doing what you are saying. How do you make the schedule now without bias?

So take the season as it is for the first 10 weeks. Week 11 take 1vs8, 2vs7, 3vs6, 4vs5. You now have 4 teams with resumes on the rise. Week 12 is the remaining four based on their SEC rank. Week 13 is the championship game. The follies in the bottom of the division scrap it out during this time as well, hoping to increase their chances of a bowl bid. The idea is to build momentum late in the season for several SEC teams.

Also, the schedule should include SEC game weeks where the entire conference is playing and other weeks where you can schedule out of conference games and bye weeks.

Well, it's close...I guess A&M is further west...but they shouldn't be in the East. I knew I should have looked at the map. I don't know much about US geography in the midwest for sure.

Ok. Well, we understand they shouldn't be in the East, or even the SEC.

Eliminate the east and west. Every team has three constants and rotate the rest of the teams yearly.

LSU constants
Bama
A&M
Ole miss
