Absolutely. At the moment the carjacking takes place you have no idea what might be going down. They might take you out to some remote site and torture you for all you know. In other words you have legit cause to fear for your life and should take action to defend yourself.

It'd be unacceptable if you are a white person with privilege and the car jacker is from a disadvantaged group.
