First of all Im glad she's alive and hope that she can get all the help she's gonna need to recover.
But the investigation of this crime and whatever is to come next is fascinating to me.
Ive not heard any theories yet as to the who and why, but I bet its gonna be an interesting investigation.

Can you give those of us out of the loop some backstory on what this is Owlie?

When I can I watch 20/20 or I think its Newsline.. They have some good stories, but I am not familiar with this case you are referring to.

Yea I assumed like many others that she was making it up, but after hearing about what shape she was in when she was found I believe her story.

My gut tells me she ran off with a dude, figured the grass wasn't greener and then made up a story and beat herself up.
Its cali so I expect it to be that and like 10000000x more.
Double that if it was Florida.

beat herself up.
Do you think she also starved herself down to 87 pounds? Branding a message on herself must have been hard.

Crazy people do crazy things.
Normal people do crazy things when backed into a corner.
She weighed less than 100 pounds normally and her bf could have easily been in on it.
Or maybe her runaway bf beat her up when she had a change of heart and he branded her when she wouldnt saty with him.
Regardless, I bet it involves her willingly leaving with another dude.

Another curious part of the story has been the role played by a self-described "international kidnap and ransom consultant" named Cameron Gamble. Gamble posted a video offering an undisclosed amount of money as a "ransom" for Papini's safe return.
Yet he still has time to kick that ball for the Tigers.

Has not been released. They say releasing it would harm the investigation.

After reading more about this. My guess is that they were having financial problems. With her being a stay at home mom and he being a best buy employee, I am sure there was just enough money coming in to pay the essential bills. Also, staying at home was probably driving her a little crazy. All day, every day staying home with the kid, she might have been looking for something different in life.. She decides to run off, a few weeks later she comes to her senses so she stages things up to fit a story of being kidnapped.. But at the same time, because she lost weight she could have been being deprived of food.. So who knows?

This is the case in a lot of these high profile disappearances. The first thing the LEO's look at is this.
So far, investigators have said they have no reason to doubt her story.

So far, I believe her. That is with limited knowledge though.

Victims like her often have memory loss, or lapses. It sometimes comes back in small pieces, if it comes back at all.
The women involved will probably be caught through cell phone triangulation records. That takes a while though. I am unfamiliar with the area she disappeared from and would not know how high the traffic in that area is.
