Also getting an elite qb is a must.
Completely disagree and would say I learned the opposite lesson. I waited until the 12th round to draft a QB (Cousins) and it made the rest of my team much better, because when guys were drafting QBs in the 5th/6th round I was able to get guys who ended up being fantasy studs, one being Melvin Gordon.
Look at the top QBs this year. Outside of the top 2 (Rodgers, Brees) the next 5 (Ryan, Mariota, Prescott, Cousins, Carr) are all guys you could have either drafted in the 10+ rounds or picked up off waivers. Even up to this week you can find startable QBs on waivers. If you play match ups you can easily stream all year at a QB1 value and not have to waste a high draft pick on a QB.
Look at the first QB off the board this year in most leagues, Cam Newton. He's the #14 QB right now. If you drafted him, you probably had to take him somewhere in the 2nd-4th rounds. Which means you took him over guys that may have been every week studs for you.
Waiting to draft a QB is the better strategy almost every time.

So youre saying you have an elite QB. Cousins happens to be an elite fantasy QB this year. Just because you didn't draft him early doesn't mean he's not elite in fantasy. He didn't mention anything about overdrafting on a big name QB, he said have an elite QB is a must, and he's absolutely right.

Sorry guys let me say I drafted brady in the 8th so I got the best of both worlds. I can see where I would be wrong with Cousins and Mariota. Ryan and Carr where drafted early in my league.
Maybe I just suck at picking qbs
