Carrier gets tax breaks.
keeps half the jobs in Indiana. sends half the jobs to Mexico.
Indiana loses tax income.
is this a corporate welfare plan?

No because the gov't is always setting the conditions for business. This happens all the time from state to state. You act as if its no big deal to save 1100 people's jobs but I bet you would not bitch about giving 1100 people food stamps.

Isn't half as bad as the Louisiana film credits.

They could have sent all the jobs. The income tax revenue from the jobs kept is more than the tax breaks

You're talking out of your arse. ALL the jobs are staying in Indiana

I love the fact that Carrier will have more of the money they made to increase wages, expand production, and innovate new products! More tax relief please!

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of welfare. You live in a fantasy world

1100/1400=/=half
Also they was threatened with losing thier government defence contracts and that was the bigger deal to them.
Also the tax breaks will be nationwide and they will be able to expand instead of lay off. They may get something special in Indiana but this happens already all over the country all the time.
Also jobs=/=welfare.
Your understanding of the situation is poor.

Trump literally said 1100 at minimum today in his speech

if municipalities/states wont work with job creators, business will move to a more friendly environment.

I'd just like to see how the "incentives" are offset by any potential economic gains.
For example, say Indiana taxpayers cough up $7 mil to save to 1,000 jobs. If, for example, those 1,000 jobs generate $10 mil in economic activity, then we may have something here.
I spend time in a state that relies HEAVILY on incentives to bring in jobs. The results, according to most of the stuff I've read, are mixed, and as a result, there's been a big taxpayer-driven push to make the state's public-private economic development organization more transparent in the way it operates.

Carrier gets tax breaks.

Indiana taxpayers aren't coughing up anything.

I could sell a shitty hat for $45, but I'd be much more successful and sell a lot more if the price was $20. If I make a deal with a customer to sell him a bunch at $20, am I giving him welfare?

The wsj is not credible in this right now

For a fact? I just watched a FOX News segment 10 minutes ago showing Huntington, IN-based Carrier workers protesting the move of their (700) jobs to Mexico.
I certainly hope you're right and FOX is wrong. Hate to see good, hard working people lose their jobs.

You guys get real squirrely when you lose elections.
It's almost like you think you're going to be placed in a giant microwave or something.

The 1100 is the sum of the 800 that would've gone to Mexico and 300 jobs at the factory that weren't going anywhere.

Link to the tax breaks they got.
Till then, shut your suck.
