He's under contract with LSU whether he signs the new contract or not. The situation is the same. It's just as easy for him to leave now as it would be if he signed it already, and vice Versa. But it's a pretty big deal that he's agreed to the new contract AND he's out recruiting for LSU. He's as committed as it gets.

What don't y'all understand about this? It is not exactly the same. The buyout is presumably less now than it would be if he signs the extension. quote:

He has not "agreed" to the new contract. It is unexecuted.
